PTPI Global Book Club Guest Reader, Alex Nunn (son of PTPI's Administration Manager Rebecca Nunn)
PTPI's Global Book Club: November Selection
PTPI’s Global Book Club is a way to connect with a global community. Global Book Club members communicate about valuable, international topics and gain unique insight and understanding of the various cultural views in relation to those topics. The PTPI Blog features discussion questions and commentary from PTPI staff and fellow readers.
To switch things up a bit this month, we will be discussing two children’s books: Same, Same But Different
by Jenny Sue Kostecki-Shaw and Growing Up Global: Raising Children to Be At Home in the World
by Homa Sabet Tavangar. The first post will be discussion questions and activities you can do with each book. Staff reader Rebecca Nunn has a preschool-aged child so some of the questions/activities will be focused for younger children, however many of the activities and questions can be used with older children as well.
The second blog post introduces a PTPI program that offers students a glimpse at life in other countries through penpal exchange with another classroom. Rebecca will talk to her son about parts of daily life that are very different from his school routine in the United States. The third blog post describes her experience introducing her son to new cultures through film.
