People to People Announces Merrill Atwater as New CEO

Mary Jean Eisenhower will continue to serve as President of People to People International

Merrill-Head-SHot.jpgPeople to People International (PTPI) is pleased to announce that Merrill Eisenhower Atwater has assumed the role of Chief Executive Officer of the international organization. Mary Eisenhower, People to People’s long-time President and CEO will remain President of the organization.

Merrill has served People to People International as the Chief Operating Officer. Atwater also served the state of Kansas as the Director of Aviation for the Kansas Department of Transportation for the last several years.

“Educational development, humanitarian activities and cultural exchange is the mission of People to People and with the international climate, it is a necessary mission,” said Atwater. “I look forward to advancing the mission of People to People, as we continue to partner with worldwide cultures and communities to make a global difference.”

“People to People International’s mission is more critical today than even when it was founded nearly 62 years ago,” said Mary Jean Eisenhower. “It will be exciting to move forward with Merrill and our thousands of members worldwide.”

People to People International was founded by President Dwight D. Eisenhower nearly 60 years ago to foster peaceful relations between nations through understanding and mutual respect. Through lasting cross-cultural connections and humanitarian relief work around the world, the organization and its chapters are able to reach those in need and create lasting connections between cultural partners that enable future exchanges and humanitarian work.
