About the Sister Chapter Program

The Sister Chapter Program pairs participating People to People International Student Chapters with sister chapters in different countries. Through communicating and completing joint projects, sister chapters learn about another culture. Get ready to have fun and make new friends around the globe!
 

Get Started

Elect a Sister Chapter Coordinator. Choose an individual to serve as the main communicator and link between the two chapters. This person should be reliable, courteous and patient. This individual should be able to effectively communicate in English and should have a genuine interest in learning more about another culture.  The sister chapter coordinator also sends updates about the sister chapter relationship to PTPI World Headquarters on December 1 and March 1.
 

Registration

Registration is open August 1 through October 1. Download the registration form in Files & Documents. A chapter officer or adult advisor should submit the registration form. Forms submitted after the registration period will be held for the following school year. Matching begins in September. Chapters are matched for one year.
 

Project Ideas

• Arrange a Skype audio or video conference call to officially meet!

  Items that PTPI’s Durban, South  Africa (Hillcrest) Student Chapter included in  the “South African” box sent to its sister chapter.

• Implement the projects in PTPI’s Cultural Lesson Plans.
• Share a special movie or documentary available in both languages, either spoken or with subtitles. After viewing a film, share your chapter’s reflections.
• Visit your sister chapter! Fundraise to make this possible.
• Assign individual pen pals or e-pals and organize a letter campaign or email exchange.
• Communicate through a Facebook group or blog.
