Q: Who
can apply for a People to People Student Loan?
A: Students who have registered for the
Student Ambassador Program or the Sports Ambassador
Program are eligible to apply for this loan. Students
will need to include their registration number
when applying.
Q: How
can I apply?
A: The loan application is available in the Members Only Section at www.ptpi.org. Loan applicants must be a current member of People to People International. To join, please click here.
Please note:
Students may only apply for one loan per travel season.
Q:
Can we use this loan towards the initial Student Ambassador or Sports Ambassador program deposit?
A: No, this loan is not available for the initial deposit. Students are required to complete the Ambassador program application including the initial deposit to be considered registered for the travel program.
Q: Does everyone who applies automatically receive a loan?
A: People to People has a limited number of loans to give out each year. Usually there are more applications than loans to give. For best results, please ensure that your application is complete and that you have also forwarded the student's grades from school.
Q: When
will we be notified if we have received the loan?
A: The deadline to apply is March 15th. Loan
recipients will be selected and notified by mail in April. You can also check the status of your loan by logging into the members only section of our web site, www.ptpi.org.
Q: Once
I have been notified as a recipient, how long
will it take for my loan funds to process?
A: Promissory notes will be forwarded to
all loan recipients. Recipients as well as their
parent(s) or legal guardian(s) will need to sign
and return the promissory note before we are able
to process the loan funds. The sooner we receive
the promissory notes, the sooner we can process
the loans.
Q: Will
the loan funds be sent to us or to the Ambassador
Program?
A: Loan funds are forwarded to the Ambassador
Program Office in Spokane, WA to be deposited
in the student's account. Usually these funds
are used toward the final program payment.
Q: Should I send in my Student Ambassador final payment by the March 15th deadline if the loan has not been credited to my account yet?
A: Please send your payment due minus the amount of the loan to the Ambassador Program Office in Spokane, WA. If you only owe the amount of the loan, do not send it in. The Ambassador Program Office will be notified who the loan recipients are and will mark those accounts paid $1,000 even if the funds have not been credited yet.
Q: What happens if I have paid too much when the loan funds are added to my account?
A: You will be refunded any amount that has been overpaid on your account by the Ambassador Program Office.
