Ambassador Martin Butora of the Embassy of the Slovak Republic visited Kansas City, Missouri through the Meet the Diplomats Program from October 16 - 19, 2001. The President of the Greater Kansas City Chapter of People to People, Barbara Dolci, and her family, hosted the Ambassador and his wife, Zora. Ambassador Butora's visit was in conjunction with the opening of the Slovak Republic Consulate of Kansas City.

His visit included a reception at People to People International Headquarters with PTPI Chief Executive Officer, Mary Eisenhower; a reception at the Rockhill Tennis Club, a tour of the local Slovak community (Sugar Creek), and meetings with local universities, businesses and community leaders.
