Operation International Children

Generate goodwill by sending school supplies to children around the world

Operation International Children (OIC) is a grass-roots program founded in 2004 by actor Gary Sinise (CSI: NY, Forrest Gump, Apollo 13) and author Laura Hillenbrand (Seabiscuit: An American Legend). Sinise and Hillenbrand created OIC to give concerned citizens of the world a way to reach out to children in war-stricken countries and support American troops in their efforts to assist them.

OIC is a PTPI-administered program that delivers school supply kits to countries where the United States has a military presence and service members can distribute the supplies to area schools.

You can help by starting a supply drive to gather the items included in the school supply kits. Monetary donations to purchase supplies also are appreciated, as are volunteers at the OIC Warehous in North Kansas City, Missouri, USA.

"It is a distinct honor for members of our People to People International family around the world to partner with Operation International Children. Our members have a history of supporting people in need: from victims of landmines in Sri Lanka, underprivileged children in Haiti, to an orphanage in Morocco. Our global network is ready to answer the call for the innocent children of countries in conflict."

- Mary Jean Eisenhower, PTPI President and CEO
