In September 2007, People to People International’s (PTPI) President & CEO Mary Jean Eisenhower accompanied the inaugural Missions in Understanding to Rwanda. Many delegates who attended these delegations, including Mary, were so moved by the need of the Rwandan people that PTPI has launched an effort to provide support to two local efforts that are reaching out to help children.
Since the ending of the 1994 genocide, the people of Rwanda have been undergoing a restoration process. The current realities now are to address the needs of two million children who remain homeless. The Urukundo “Love” Home for Children, founded by an American woman who abandoned her “life of retirement” offers a nursery school and meals to many of these children. Les Enfants de Dieu is an organization that is working to transform the lives of the Rwandan street children through poverty alleviation, rehabilitation and reintegration.
We ask that you consider supporting PTPI’s efforts to improve the quality of life and education for these children, their families and the future of Rwanda.
Donations should be directed to People to People International World Headquarters in Kansas City, Missouri. Please include a comment with your gift that it is for the “IFF—Rwanda 1994 Aftercare.” The International Friendship Fund (IFF) was designed to direct 100% of your gift to a specific effort recognized by PTPI. Your may direct your donation by mail, fax or through our online donation system—available through the “Donate” button located below.
On the outside looking in… Rwandan children able to go to school are outnumbered by the homeless.
