Q:  How long has PTPI been in existence?
A:  U.S. President Dwight D. Eisenhower established PTPI in 1956. It was removed from the government and placed in the private sector in 1961. Since that time, hundreds of thousands of people have participated in PTPI Chapter activities, Worldwide Conferences, Adult Exchange Programs, or Student Exchange Programs.

Q:  What types of programs are offered through PTPI?
A:  There is a network of chapters and a wide variety of programming that all work within the Eisenhower concept. Chapters are made up of volunteers in communities worldwide who support PTPI programs and participate in unique activities locally while reaching out at the international level. Today there are student and adult chapters in 38 countries which are involved in home hosting through the International Visitors Program and the Meet the Diplomats Program, supporting medical aid/relief efforts, befriending university students, and much more.

Outside of the chapter network, more than 20,000 professionals, university, secondary and middle school students travel internationally under PTPI auspices each year. Programs include the Adult Exchange Program, Missions in Understanding, the International Visitors Program and the Student Ambassador and Sports Ambassador Programs.

Biennial Worldwide Conferences are held to provide a forum for educational, civic, business leaders and private citizens to discuss ideas and learn about issues affecting the international community.Annual Global Youth Forums are designed for middle and high school students ages 13-18. The aim is to enhance international understanding, education, leadership and humanitarianism through face-to-face interaction.
