People to People International bestows several awards of the highest caliber each year to world leaders who have made a difference in creating "peace through understanding." The Eisenhower Medallion, PTPI's most prestigious award is generally given annually to a person who has made a significant impact on world events through their leadership efforts. Some of the past recipients include: the Archbishop Desmond Tutu, then Vice President George W. Bush, President Ronald Reagan, Egyptian President Anwar Sadat (posthumously) and Israeli Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin (posthumously).
